Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) has
announced its decision to award $75,000 in early-stage funding
for Promogen, Inc., to help develop synthetic gene promoter
production technology. The funding comes through TEDCO's Maryland
Technology Transfer Fund (MTTF). The project will be conducted
in collaboration with Professor Dean Mann at the University
of Maryland, School of Medicine. TEDCO was created by the
Maryland State legislature in 1998. MTTF provides funding
for Maryland companies who wish to develop technology-based
products and/or services in collaboration with the Universities
and/or Federal Laboratories in Maryland.

Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTECH) announced
today that Promogen is selected to receive $70,000 of MIPS
grant for the project ˇ°Construction of Synthetic Gene Promotersˇ±
to be conducted in collaboration with Professor Dean Mann
at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, in Baltimore
Maryland. The Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) program
accelerates the commercialization of technology in Maryland
by jointly funding collaborative R&D projects between
companies and University System of Maryland faculty.

Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTECH) announced
today that Promogen is selected to receive $70,000 of MIPS
Phase II grant for the project "Construction of Synthetic
Gene Promoters" to be conducted in collaboration with
Professor Dean Mann at the University of Maryland, School
of Medicine, in Baltimore Maryland. The MIPS Phase II grant
was approved by MTECH based on Promogen's successful completion
of Phase I of the project.
